COME AWAY WITH THE LORD

"Come, My children, listen to Me. Come into My courts and worship in My holiness."
There are many of us who need to come away with the Lord and spend special time with Him. This is what the Lord desires and this is what we desire in our hearts. The Lord wants us to put aside the cares…those worries and distractions that have come into our lives to keep us from spending time with Him. He desires to show us special things about Himself, to reveal special things that we have never known before. He wants to tell and teach us about Himself. He wants to reveal to us who He really is. He wants to nurture us, love us, comfort us, and raise us up into the people that He wants us to become. This would be truly pleasing in His eyes. He wants us to come away with Him and to spend time in his presence.
We need to be still and know that He is God. We need to open our ears to listen to what God wants to say to us.
The People of His Pasture
"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care." (Psalm 95:6,7 NIV)
We can enter His presence boldly because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. He took away our sins so that we can be in God's presence at all times. We can petition our Father, worship and praise our King and have intimacy beyond any relationship on this earth. The Lord wants us to do just that. The Lord wants us to come with Him.
Jesus says, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away." (John 6:37 NIV) He said, "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." (John 14:18 NIV) He has come to us through the Spirit within us. He has given this Spirit of Truth, our Counselor, to all who have asked of Him.
The Everlasting Covenant
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. (Isaiah 55:1-3 NIV)
Some of us have had a relationship with God in the past but have become like lost sheep. We have been caught up in this life. We have been led astray by distractions such as our careers, families, and activities. Some of us have been led astray from true intimacy with God because we have believed lies of the devil [some being promoted by false ministers (wolves) in sheep's clothing]. Those involved in these distractions or lies have been wounded and distressed by their pressures and bondage caused by wandering away.
The Lord is comforting: "Come now, let us reason together…. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land;" (Isaiah 1:18,19 NIV)
Let our response be the following: "Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; He has injured us but he will bind up our wounds." (Hosea 6:1 NIV)
God is our Friend
God desires us to come to Him and be His intimate friend. Jesus says we are His friends if we do what He commands. He says He will tell us what the Father tells Him. (John 15:14,15) Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to do this. (John 16:13-15)
God knows us individually. He knows each of us by name. He knows our thoughts, our plans, and our desires. He knows more about us than we do about ourselves. He longs for us to know Him in the same manner. We are not simply a laboratory experiment where BIG GOD observes and monitors little people. He is our friend!! But, friendship is a two-way relationship! He hasn't moved from His desire of relationship with us. Have we?
God's presence is in each one of us. He has never left us nor forsaken us, though at times we may have wondered where He is. Come to Him and He will speak. He will minister. As He has had close relationships with Moses, Abraham, Paul, Peter and many others, He desires to have a close relationship with each of us as well.
He desires such intimacy with us that He wants to be our possession…our life. Everything we do, think, say and feel should revolve around our love relationship for Him. We can have the most pure and intimate relationship imaginable (even beyond our imaginations!) with Him if we choose!
